Steward Health Care Network is the second largest physician network in Massachusetts.

Steward Health Care Network (SHCN) is the second largest physician network in Massachusetts. Established in 2001, SHCN is responsible for the implementation and successful execution of managed care contracts, providing physicians with medical management services (referral and care management), quality improvement programs, data analysis, information systems and financial expertise.

Steward Health Care Network extends across the communities throughout the Steward service area of eastern Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire and Rhode Island. The 1,100 member physicians from the seven affiliated Independent Practice Associations (IPA’s) that make up SHCN, both primary care physicians and a full range of specialists, provide care to more than 100,000 managed care lives.

The hospitals of the Steward Health Care system are located in communities across eastern Massachusetts. They are Carney Hospital in Dorchester, Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer, Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, and St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton.

In addition to these hospitals, Steward Health Care includes several allied health services such as Steward Home Care; Steward Health Care Centers for Sleep Medicine; PET Imaging; the Steward Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Treatment; and Steward Imaging Services, all of which serve the communities in which our hospitals are located.
